Hazel, Angie and Lee all started at the Monday Level 1 Somerset Health Walk in Frome, all for different reasons, but have since blossomed a friendship and all now attend every single week - with Hazel and Lee attending the Wednesday and Fridays walks now too each week but still stick with that Monday walk as they are so fond of the people😊
Hazel moved here from South Africa and has found the walks have made a big difference to her: "I live alone so the social side is very important to me and I have discovered so much about Frome and other opportunities. enjoy the exercise I am getting which helps me both mentally and physically with conditions. Socially I get to chat with lots of different people of all abilities and have made a lovely friendship group along the way, and we meet socially for dinner too. It also gives me the opportunity to take lovely photos which is my favourite hobby."
Lee found out about Somerset Health Walks through her daughter, as she wanted to help Lee meet more people: "I have met and go out to dinner with some of the folks I have met at the walks. We are trying lots of different places around here. The things that helped me develop were meeting new people, and making friends to spend time with socially. We have tried some different places for eating. I am grateful to my daughter for the suggestion."
Angie told us the biggest thing that has helped her develop is: "Being able to do the thing I had promised myself whilst I was still working and can now enjoy in my retirement. It has been nice to meet new people, get moving and filling my time. It has been nice striking up some friendships to do other things with."Somerset Health Walks isn't just for your physical health, but your mental health too.
