About the programme

Happy Healthy Holidays runs through the Summer, Winter and Easter school holidays for children and young people aged 5 – 16. These free clubs offer enriching activities, healthy food and fun, for children eligible for benefits related free school meals (FSM), including those with additional needs. 

SASP works with hundreds of dedicated providers across Somerset to deliver this provision. This funding has been made available by Somerset Council and is part of a government programme.

Dawn leads secondary care initiatives, including hospital discharge and the Move 2 Independence reconditioning service. Dawn oversees dementia and falls-prevention work with care homes, co-delivers workforce training, and contributes to resources that support adults, including those with long-term conditions, to become more active in ways that suit them. Dawn also supports NHS student placement opportunities.

Steph leads primary care physical activity initiatives, supports the integration of community organisations into clinically lead community appointment days, and co-delivers workforce training. Steph contributes to resources that help adults, including those with long-term conditions, become more active in ways that suit them. Steph also supports women’s health work, promoting inclusive and accessible activity opportunities across the life course.

Jo develops, co-ordinates and delivers the countywide Physical Activity on Referral scheme, called ProActive, which aims to improve the health outcomes and quality of life amongst Somerset residents by providing opportunities to be more physically active and maintain a healthy weight, whilst addressing long-term health conditions.
